About
Institute for Objective Policy Assessment
(IOPA – 501[c]3) Mission Statement
IOPA aims to package diverse perspectives into objective, insightful policy assessments. IOPA will do that by revealing the potential for bias, supplementing that with external comment/reply, and by presenting research findings from diverse perspectives, including through online conversation forums. The latter will also provide the opportunity for continuous Q&A. IOPA hopes that process defines areas of potential consensus and the basis for informed disagreement. All aspects of Accountability, including ‘Policy Analyst Accountability,’ will be a major IOPA objective.
Through a carefully orchestrated and packaged process of informed, civil disagreement, IOPA aims to be a one-stop shop for fully informed policymaking on many issues.

A ‘NEED’ EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
26+ Important Niches that IOPA Can Fill
Dr. John Merrifield, IOPA President (IOPAChief@policytalk.org)

BIG PICTURE: 2020-24 showed us that we need many changes in direction, more than ever. We have some great think tanks. But we need more and better insights, or we’ll deepen our existing, dangerous jeopardy. Including new ways of providing critical insights, there are 26 very important issues and factors (literally, A-Z) given little or no proper attention by the existing think tanks.

About the IOPA Strategy
[policytalk.org]
Trustworthy sources of policy assessment insights are always important. While there are enough important policies to create ‘room’ for several organizations committed to objectivity and diversity of perspective, no existing organizations come close to bending over backwards to assure it. IOPA will. A research organization totally committed to objectivity and diversity of perspective is especially important now, in these times of unprecedented polarization, and time management challenges. Policymakers typically cannot take the time to survey several respectable research organizations to see an issue whole. It can be very important to have a single respected source of different perspectives. For the policies IOPA assesses, IOPA aims to be that single respected source of the important perspectives; being insightful and inciteful.

Launch Priorities
Through some quick, important policy insights I want to give folks a reason to support the IOPA business plan (and/or larger projects) and visit the website regularly; among other things to participate in the online conversation forums that are a key part of the IOPA Assessment process.
Logo Explanation
The IOPA logo comes from acclaimed cartoonist, John Trever. We asked him to draw an owl for wisdom, and an eagle for toughness and tenacity. And, in the front is what will become IOPA’s highly valued ‘Seal of Approval.’ IOPA is all about serious analysis and assessment, with a sense of humor.
President's Page
